Cadillac has always been a leader in innovation and the modern automotive scene, with its abundance of new technologies and competitive inventions, hasn’t put a stop to this.
Cadillac has been the recipient of a wide variety of awards for their innovative new products, the most recent of which being the 2015 Popular Science “Best of What’s New” award for Cadillac’s new Rear Camera Mirror.
The new Rear Camera Mirror is one of those inventions that seem so simple and so obvious that you’re half-amazed cars haven’t been designed like this since the dawn of the automobile (and the inception of the in-car camera system).
The Rear Camera Mirror is a rear-view camera that live-streams directly onto the rear-view mirror. It increases the driver’s field of vision by an estimated 300% through its ingenious lensing system and through the removal of in-car obstructions like headrests and passengers. The Rear Camera Mirror will be available on the new Cadillac CT6 sedan and Cadillac XT5 crossover.
Congratulations to Cadillac for their big win! This is the top prize from the lauded tech magazine, Popular Science, and is given out to only 100 inventions and innovations across the globe.
