Ever since the range-topping CT6 sedan was announced by Cadillac, we just keep getting more and more excited. And now, Cadillac is adding another phenomenal option: a plug-in hybrid for the CT6.
Cadillac made the announcement at the Shanghai Auto Show, but didn’t say when it would be available. The standard gasoline-powered CT6 will be coming to dealerships in December, with the plug-in hybrid coming later.
With the hybrid system, Cadillac says the fuel efficiency should be at least double what the gasoline-powered version will get. While Cadillac didn’t offer a number, industry experts expect it could be at least 40 mpg combined. It is also expected to offer a large enough all-electric driving range for most daily commutes.
“The first-ever CT6 is a technological showcase throughout, making it an ideal platform for Cadillac to offer its first plug-in hybrid,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen, in a statement. “In the CT6, Cadillac presents a new formula for prestige luxury. The advanced Plug-In Hybrid system is a key addition, providing a combination of exceptional fuel economy, crisp acceleration and strong electric-driving range.”

Earth Day is coming up soon, and while many of us have opted to drive more environmentally friendly cars, others are looking for ways to decrease their carbon footprint for April 22.
Here are a few tips to make your car green this Earth Day:
- Driving the speed limit isn’t just safer (and legal), it’s also a good way to save precious gasoline.
- Use cruise control in order to help you with the previous tip.
- Switch to a re-usable air filter. You’ll be saving not only your filter but avoiding the packaging waste that comes with a new one.
- Don’t neglect regular maintenance. A smoothly running car produces fewer emissions.
- Turn off your car instead of allowing it to idle while you are waiting.
- Car pool on your way to work or while running errands.
Do you have any other green car tips to improve your driving experience this Earth Day? Let us know your ideas in the comments.
Even amongst its segment, the GMC Terrain has created a niche for itself. According to CNET, “GMC refers to the new Terrain as a ‘compact SUV.’” But it’s at least two feet longer than your average compact SUV. The Terrain seems to be quite comfortable in the no-man’s land between full-size and compact. That’s a very cool thing.
GM is likely promoting the Terrain as compact because they know compact buyers are going to love it. It’s simply going to feel like a compact SUV with more room and not like a bulky, full-size SUV that feels like a tank once you get in a parking garage.
The 2016 GMC Terrain, a mid-cycle refresh, recently debuted at the New York International Auto Show. CNET acknowledged its “rugged” looks while praising its “smart” qualities, which include a touchscreen Intellilink head unit including navigation as well as OnStar telematics services. The “compact” SUV is big on safety as well, with a rear-view camera and forward collision alert among other features.
All in all, the refreshed 2016 GMC Terrain maintains the SUV as a solid, reliable, attractive and relevant choice among its segment
Cadillac and Bose are teaming up to bring the first-ever Bose® Panaray® sound system to the first-ever Cadillac CT6. Joining forces for the first time in 1980, this isn’t the first rodeo for the two companies; and the result is an astounding sound system you won’t believe is meant for your car.
The Panaray is the first in Bose’s revolutionary new line of “Advanced Technology Series” sound systems. A whopping 34 speakers are littered throughout the cabin of the CT6 sedan to provide the optimum listening experience with clarity, precision, and high quality deep bass.
“We asked Bose to create something truly special for this new vehicle” an unbounded sound system, providing an audio experience unmatched in any other luxury automobile,” said Travis Hest, executive chief engineer for the CT6. “Cadillac CT6 customers will be elated by what they hear and feel when they switch on the Bose Panaray system.”
We at Richard Karr Motors have been trying to wait patiently for the arrival of Cadillac’s all-new sedan. However, when we learn of exclusive features like this Bose sound system, it makes the early 2016 release date seem forever away. Oh well; we all have to wait together, so at least we’re in good company.
One thing that never gets old is the taste of a good burger. In the next few months, there will be three new Waco restaurants offering their unique flavors to the burger selection right here in town. The California-based company In-N-Out Burger is looking to set up shop with their famous animal-style burgers and cult following somewhere around Interstate 35 and South Fifth Street.
The highly anticipated Twisted Root Burger Company will be taking over the old Texas Playhouse building. On the marquee will be such burgers as the “Frito Bandito,” “Spicy Goat,” and the Texas based company’s own “Big Tex.” Construction on the Twisted Root will begin next month and the first “Big Tex” will be available in time for the autumn driving season.
Last, but not least, Wataburger is looking to open a location near our old Richard Karr dealer location on Lake Air and Valley Mills. We love our new facility here at the “Motor Mile,” but just for old time’s sake it’s a nice drive back to the original lot and soon the new Wataburger burger-joint will be a nice nostalgic lunch destination.
We hope you will be able to get out and enjoy some of these new restaurants to the Waco area, and also be sure to come visit us at Richard Karr Motors.
As millions of college basketball fans across America gear up for the annual March Madness tournament, Buick has decided to have its own version of the tournament. The American carmaker has developed its own “Sweet 16” bracket that pits 16 trick-shot artists against each other in a new Buick.com promotion.
The Buick March Madness Tournament asks the public to vote for the best trick shots in head-to-head matchups and the competition is fierce! Competitors include four-year-old Trick Shot Titus, who has drawn millions of views on YouTube, along with dunk specialists Team Flight Brothers and the Dunking Devils.
“They’re pretty incredible,” said Molly Peck, Buick’s director of marketing and advertising. “It’s going to be a hard time selecting one to win. Some are amazing feats of coordination, some are amazing feats of physics.”
Along with the trick-shot tournament, Buick is also celebrating March Madness with the March Madness Sweet 16 Event. For more information on this, contact or stop in to Richard Karr Motors today!
