New GMC CarbonPro™ Bed: Innovative Carbon Fiber Design

GMC CarboPro bed

GMC is delivering performance like never before with a new series of Sierra CarbonPro™ Edition trucks. Available this summer on the Denali 1500 and AT4 1500 trims, you’ll find the purpose-built GMC CarbonPro bed. It uses a state-of-the-art carbon fiber composite material to resist corrosion, reduce weight, and improve durability. By cutting unnecessary weight, this bed is works to improve driving dynamics.

According to GMC, the benefits of the carbon fiber bed are multifold. First, it’s stronger than most metals, as well as scratch resistant. It also doesn’t rust, like steel, and it reduces unnecessary weight. You get more volume with this special bed design, as well as better functionality thanks to added tie-down locations.

“CarbonPro is made of the same raw material found in seven-figure super cars and even aerospace applications,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president, Global GMC. “Coupled with offering the world’s first six-function MultiPro tailgate, the 2019 Sierra packs a one-two hauling punch for whatever the situation demands.”

GMC engineers have been hard at work testing the new bed to make sure it lasts. They’ve don’t drop tests, corrosion tests, extreme temperature testing, and more. Perhaps best of all, this carbo fiber bed doesn’t need a spray-in bedliner for protection because it’s so durable. Since it’s dent resistant, you also don’t need wheelhouse liners — and since it’s lighter than a metal truck bed, you can even carry an additional 59 pounds.
