The GMC Canyon and GMC Sierra have been recognized in the 2016 KBB Best Resale Value Awards, an annual award given to the ten vehicles in the industry that get the highest return on resale 3 and 5 years down the road. Vehicles on the list must fetch at least a 55% of their original sticker price after 3 years.
The Canyon and Sierra were numbers 3 and 9 on the list, joined mostly by other trucks and SUVs. The Canyon retains an estimated 70.7% of its original value after 3 years, while the Sierra gets about 57% of its sticker price.
The presence of two GMC vehicles on the list is a testament to the durability and excellence of engineering, since cars with higher resale values tend to have lower long-term maintenance costs. This win comes on the heels of several other awards to the Canyon in 2015, including the Cars.com Midsize Pickup Challenge and the AutoWeek Best of the Best Truck.
